A Cirrus training aircraft chocked on the Clipper Aviation ramp
Part 141 & Part 61 instruction — Van Nuys, California

Every aviator here started exactly where you are.

A modern Cirrus fleet, instructors who fly for a living, and a training program built around the pilot you intend to become.

Why train here

A company of aviators, teaching the next generation.

Our flight training program features a modern fleet of Cirrus aircraft providing structured, personally tailored instruction for students ranging from private pilot through to advanced ratings.

As a company of passionate aviators — each of whom began their aviation journey as a student pilot — we hold dear our commitment to cultivating a safe and capable next generation of aviation professionals.

Training at Clipper also means training somewhere aircraft are maintained, chartered and dispatched every day. Students see a real operation running around them, which is a considerably better education than a classroom.

  • Modern glass flight decks and whole-airframe parachutes from lesson one
  • Maintained in-house by our own Part 145 repair station
  • Instructors who fly the line, not just the pattern
The path

From the right seat to the left one.

There is no fixed timetable. We build the syllabus around how often you are able to fly and what you intend to use the license for.

  1. 01Discovery flight

    Thirty minutes, left seat

No commitment, no experience needed. You fly — an instructor sits beside you and handles everything you haven't learned yet. Most people book their first lesson before they land.

  2. 02Private pilot

The license that starts it all

Ground school, dual instruction and solo flight, structured around your schedule rather than a classroom timetable. Glass flight deck from the very first hour.

  3. 03Instrument rating

Flying when the weather says no

The rating that turns a license into transport. Taught on the same aircraft you trained on, with the automation discipline that modern flying actually demands.

  4. 04Commercial & beyond

    Making it a career

Commercial, high-performance and complex endorsements, and honest advice about the path ahead from people who have walked it.

The first thirty minutes change everything.

Available most days of the week. Bring nothing but a photo ID and reasonable expectations about how much you'll want to come back.
